My teaching philosophy:
Each one of us has deep core muscles waiting to be gently tapped into and utilized to support our bodies for a more pain-free and joyous existence. We work to keep the spine long and supple while fueling each limb independently like Dragonfly wings, creating vibrant healthy movement.
Since my completion with a Bachelors in Art from NKU (1999) with a Minor in dance, I have been creating artistic performances in the Cincinnati area for over 30 years. This path has led me to engage in a variety of disciplines, but the human body has remained the focus of my exploration.
About 25 years ago, my love for climbing led me to start receiving formal training in aerial ballet, which then transitioned professionally into teaching Ariel dance classes.
Additionally, I’m a certified personal trainer in both Pilates, for 22 years and the GYROTONIC® Method for the last 9 years. I worked at the BodyMind Balance Studio in Cincinnati until I left to start my own studio in May of 2024. Throughout my years of practice, my clients have encompassed a variety of ability levels including athletic, elderly, chronically ill, and cancer patients.
To elevate my knowledge of working on physical development with stroke survivors, I trained with hands-on experience in Neurological Redevelopment with Bette Lamont (expert in neuro developmental movement since 1986) for over 2 years.
Continuing dedication to bodywork education, and immersion in teaching, performance, and dance trades, I bring an array of dynamic experiences, and skill proficiencies to my clients. Performing in professional theater shows, and exposure to performances of different artists and genres, has fueled my soul for two decades! The Contemporary Dance Theater was my first taste of artistic possibilities, and the power of creative collaboration. I have trained in many forms of dance including modern dance, Vogue, and I studied the Dunham technique for 5 years with Terri Brown at CDT. I attended a week-long workshop at the Katherine Dunham Center for Arts and Humanities in 2000 where I was humbled to meet Ms. Dunham herself. I worked with Ohio Hall of Fame dancer and choreographer, Fanchon Shur, over a decade, and most notably on her therapeutic body movement piece “Fight, Flight, Freeze: Instincts for Healthy Living” I also studied and performed improve dance to explore movement, unusual spaces, or objects spanning varied physical mediums.
